How to Make Choice in Mental Health a Reality

Choice has been one of the key planks of healthcare reform in recent years. In order to develop a patient centred service it is now widely accepted that choice for patients is both intrinsically desirable and a driver of improvement in service standards. This roundtable discussion will discuss how choice in mental health can become the norm rather than an exception.

Britain and the Government of Britain needs, as the Prime Minister has said, a new type of politics which embraces everyone in the nation and not just a select few, a politics that is built on engaging with people and not excluding them, and perhaps most of all a politics that draws upon the widest range of talents and expertise, not narrow circles of power.
